Yesterday, I talked about how fruits and veggies affect your health. I listened to a Dr. who suggested we eat 10-13 serving of vegetables and fruits every day!
How is that possible, I thought? But I decided to give it a try and see if I could do it, and it wasn’t as hard as I thought.
When I woke up I had 1 cup of V-8 splash 100% fruit/veggie juice. On the label it said it was one serving of fruit and one serving of veggies. 2 down.
For breakfast I had 1 serving of Puffin cereal from Trader Joe’s with skim milk and 1 cup of blueberries and 1 very large banana (which I am counting as 2 servings). 4 more servings down.
For my morning snack I had a very large apple, 2 more servings down
For lunch I had a noodle bowl from Trader Joe’s to which I added 1/2 cup of edamame, and 2 servings of green beans as well as 2 veggie pot stickers. 3 more servings down
For dinner, I had a ready made pork dinner from Trader Joe’s with sauteed onions and peppers. 1 more serving down
I also ate a cup of grapes while making dinner, 2 more servings down.
After dinner for my desert, I had another banana drizzled with Nutella. 1 more serving down.
So, all in all, I had 15 servings!!!
Total calories for the day 1,700 total fiber 32 grams!
Can I do this everyday?? Probably not, I’m just kidding, I am going to try to make a better effort to think of fruits and veggies first before any chips, processed snacks etc…
We’ll see what I can do tomorrow!!
Do you buy organic produce, or just regular at the store??
Wow, good job! I don’t think I could do that everyday either — nor could my wallet! hehe
If it’s reasonable, I’ll buy organic. Otherwise, I peel or wash most veggies so I buy regular.
Great job getting in all those fruits and veggies. Thanks for showing us it’s not that hard to get in 15 servings of fruit and veggies.
If organic is on sale, I buy organic, but I buy mostly conventional fruits and veggies and wash and peel them.
Awesome job! 🙂 I have found that being more conscious about eating fruits and veggies has really made a difference in what I eat.
I try to buy as much organic produce as possible (about 2/3 organic and 1/3 not organic).
Whoa, look at you! That rocks. I totally need to challenge myself to do this…maybe once a week! I buy regular, but am seriously considering going organic.
wow, that is a lot but it can’t hurt!
My first thought is cool you did it. My next thought is did she say anything about how your body should process all that extra sugar??? Seems like a lot of sugar.
Just wondering?
