Hello! My name is Jenn von Ebers and I started this blog back in 2008 as a way to share recipes, document my wellness journey, and connect with others navigating real life, real food, and everything in between. Over the years, it’s evolved alongside me — and I’m so grateful you’re here.
I’ve been on a wellness journey for most of my adult life — with all the ups, downs, and detours that come along with it. I first joined Weight Watchers in the summer of 1999, when my daughter Emma was three and my son Mark was one. Every week, I packed a blanket, toys, and snacks to keep them entertained while I attended my local meeting. Nine months later, I had lost 70 pounds and reached my goal weight.
Over the years, life changed — as it always does. When I became pregnant with my youngest daughter, Claire, in 2001, I loosened the rules, enjoyed foods I hadn’t eaten in a while, and gradually gained weight back. But one thing I’m proud of is that I’ve never given up on myself. I’ve learned this journey isn’t about perfection — it’s about persistence. As long as you keep showing up for yourself, you’re still moving forward.
Today, I’m down from my highest weight of 217 pounds to 167 pounds, and I’m focused on building a lifestyle I can maintain long term. For the past four years, I’ve committed to walking six days a week and incorporating weight training into my routine. My goal isn’t to be skinny — it’s to be strong, active, healthy, and able to fully enjoy life for decades to come.
I want to spend my 60s, 70s, and 80s traveling, making memories, exploring new places, and staying independent — not sitting in waiting rooms or managing a long list of medications.
These days, I focus on eating more fruits and vegetables, moving my body in ways I enjoy, and finding balance instead of extremes. I’ve also found an incredible online community over on Instagram at @jenncooks, where I share meals, recipes, workouts, and little snapshots of everyday life almost daily. That community became a lifeline during quarantine, and I’m so grateful those connections continue today.
Here on the blog, you’ll find a mix of new recipes, updated favorites, meal ideas, and a few gems from my very first blog, Slim Shoppin’.
Thanks so much for stopping by my little corner of the internet. If you have questions or just want to say hello, you can reach me at jennifervonebers@gmail.com — I’d love to hear from you.
