This is where I was this weekend. The Warren Dunes in Sawyer, Michigan on a girl scout camp weekend!
We stayed at in cabins (thank goodness not tents!) We did crafts, hiked, roasted marshmallows, played, ran around and had a great time!
There are huge dunes to climb, the girls had fun running up and down this one! And even though the Lake Michigan water was really cold, the girls braved it and took their socks and shoes off and played in the water.
The food was served at a mess hall. Sat. night they served riblets?? Or as the camp director also called them rib-a-cue! Not sure what kind of meat that is, but whatever it is, its shaped like ribs. I didn’t eat that, but luckily there was corn on the cob and scalloped potatoes and salad, so I didn’t go to bed hungry.
There were 19 girls and 13 moms that went, and I shared a cabin that had 2 rooms that slept 6 people per room. Let’s just say, the girls had a hard time settling down and I think the last person stopped talking by 11:15, and I was still wide awake by 1:30. Too many little noises, and at the same time too quiet. I’m used to traffic, so when its so quiet outside, its kind of weird for me!
All in all it was a great trip!
Then my oldest son, who is 14 went to Cleveland for an orchestra competition. They went by luxury bus to the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame, they got to go on a boat dinner cruise, and then to an amusement park! He had a great time too!

Great pics of famous people’s guitars!
So, all in all a great weekend, hopefully I’ll get some sleep tonight!
How was your weekend??
Great pictures!! The pic of the girls in their headbands is just too sweet! Riblets? Um, no- I think I would have passed!
Ours was great – we spent the weekend in Manhattan with a great friend – loads of fun!
My son was forced to eat rib-b-cues at his boy scout camp and the boys revolted by mailing them to the camp sign. Gross! Looks like a fun time was had by you all.
We had a great weekend! We went to our property up north, gardened, dug a trench, and saw a wolf in the evening, not more than 30 feet from the back of the cottage! And none of us ate riblets, which is another good thing. 😀
