It was non-stop at work today, from the moment I walked in until the moment I walked out! Phew was I tired by the time I went home!
BUT, some great things happened during the day….I did NOT give in to food at work!
Why is it there is always so much food there and why is it all junk?
Just to re-cap, here was all the food at the “food table” at work throughout the day.
This was after about 2 hours of this whole table filled with candy!
Then about 10:30, a rep came in and brought pastries/muffins!!
Cookies left over from a luncheon!
And left over sandwiches from the luncheon.
The old me would have had the candy and a muffin and probably a cookie for about 1,000 calories (or more!), but today, I walked right by. I can’t promise myself I’ll do that every day, but at least I know that I can do it!
*How do you avoid temptation at work??

Maybe one reason I was able to not eat that junk is because I brought good food today.
For breakfast:
1/2 cup oats
2 TB. ground flax seed
1 banana
drizzle of sugar free syrup
400 calories and 10 grams of fiber!
For lunch, I brought one of the soups that the nice people at Dr. McDougall’s right foods gave me. It is a great food find, and if you haven’t tried any of their new ready to made soups, it is so worth it! I love black bean soup, and I couldn’t wait to try it.
There are a few reasons why I liked this soup. You get a BIG portion. That box is 2 servings, but each serving is only 120 calories, 1 gram of fat and 5 grams of fiber, so I ate the whole thing!
The second thing I liked is that they added brown rice to it, which made the texture great. I could also see green pepper, onion, carrots, as well. I just added a little hot sauce because I like it spicy! It really filled me up.
So far, my family has tried the chunky tomato soup, the black bean, and lentil and they’ve all gotten a thumbs up.
Check out their website to learn more about their company. Most products are vegetarian or vegan or gluten free. Around the Chicago-land area, I know you can buy them at Whole Foods.
Have a great Friday everyone!
How do you avoid temptation at work…try to get engrossed in your work!
Those are a lot of goodies…I would maybe have snuck a few into my purse for a LATEr treat…the promise of a future treat wouldn’t make me feel deprived then!
I’m really weird about communal food, so I’d probably talk myself out of eating all of those foods by imagining somebody icky cut that pastry, or that the sandwiches had been left out so long the mayo went bad. hahaha Although the candy is in a wrapper, so I’d have a hard time w/ that one .. maybe I’d invent an elaborate story about embedded razor blades? 😛
Those are great stats on the soup! Soup usually doesn’t fill me up, either, so that’s great that you could eat the whole thing and feel full!
I had totally forgotten my McDougalls love!!!
I made a deal with myself a while ago that I only eat what I plan. So if I didn’t plan for the “treat,” I won’t eat it.
McDougall’s soups sound good. I have never tried them but will see if I can find a box.
Happy Friday! 🙂
Wow, what temptation! Congrats on resisting!!!
Holy cow that’s a lot of temptation! HUGE congrats on passing it by!! Love the looks of that soup and will def. look out for it. I adore black bean soup and the added brown rice is a plus for sure. The perfect thing to bring to work … thanks for the recommendation!
What a ton of food at work!!! I sometimes have that same problem, and my solution is to just never start – if I don’t have one thing, it won’t lead to another (like it always used to for me). Plus I make sure I bring plenty of my own healthy food for breakfast, lunch and snacks if I need it. You did great to avoid everything that was available today!
