Weekend re-cap

The weekend started out by taking the boys to see the movie 9. It was really good, and a little scary (although my sons said it was not scary to them!) I loved all the characters and I always wonder how people have the imagination to come up with fantastic stories like that. So I would definitely recommend it. It was rated PG-13 and I was nervous that my 11 year old might get scared, but some couple brought a baby and what looked like a 3 year old! What’s up with that?

Then on to the next big event. My nieces wedding. My husbands side of the family is big (he has 10 brothers and sisters) and there are like 30 grandkids. The one getting married is the oldest grandchild and my daughter Claire is the youngest.

The wedding and reception was held at Architectural Artifacts in Chicago. The architecture firm I work at designed the atrium that houses the parties and has 3 floors of some of the most fantastic artifacts from around the world. It’s an awesome place to have a party!

Me and Stephanie Izzard

Do you guys recognize who this is?? It’s Stephanie Izzard winner of TOP CHEF from 2 years ago! She is my niece Jessie’s best friend and one of her bridesmaids! I knew she was going to be there, so I was hoping that I would be able to talk to her.

I was able to talk to her, and I told her I didn’t want to bother her with a bunch of food questions, but I did have one Top Chef Question… Do they let the chef’s look things up on-line or can they bring their own cookbooks to refer to?

The answer?? No! They have no cell phone, no computer, the are completely sequestered and everything they cook is off the top of their heads! Isn’t that crazy? She’s opening up a new restaurant in the fall, the name was going to be “The Drunken Goat” but that name is already taken, so she said its a work in progress still. She couldn’t have been nicer to me!

So here is the bride, my niece Jessie with my daughter. I loved her dress! She looks amazing!

Hope everyone had a great weekend.
