I’m not sure if you have seen these in the store yet. They are relatively new. In fact, I was asked to try these a few months ago, but every store I went to, they were not on the shelf.
That is all changed. You can find these in the frozen section next to the frozen pastas.
I have to be honest. I usually don’t buy the “dinner in a bag” because usually they don’t taste good, or are way too many calories. But for this whole bag, it is considered 2 servings and each serving is only 350 calories and 5 grams of fat! Not bad! They have several different flavors, this is the one I chose to get. Orange Chicken.
Basically, just dump the bag in a skillet, no oil or water needed and heat for about 15 minutes or so until its all thawed and heated through.
I was actually kind of excited having a night off from cooking and having a lazy evening!
A few tips to stretch this meal out is you can add more veggies, and more cooked chicken. I actually added a little more of my favorite stir fry sauce to it to. My whole family ate it, so there was no wasted food (which is always a plus!)
So I had some of the skillet dinner, a few biscuits and spinach and carrot salad. It was really good!

And on another note, I worked out at lunch again. Jogged 3.3 miles with my co-worker AND rode my bike 3.2 miles! It was beautiful out today!!!!
And, when I got back from my lunch work out, I heated up probably the best stew my Mom has ever made! It’s an old family recipe for Chicken brunswick stew my Dad created when we were growing up.
Every bite was better than the last, I loved it. Thanks for giving me some Momma!
It’s got shredded chicken, diced potatoes, carrots, onion, lima beans, tomatoes, chicken broth, corn, etc… if you don’t make any other stew this fall/winter, make this, its that good. And my Dad used to say it tasted even better the next day!
So, all in all, it was a pretty great day today!
Yum! A frozen skillet meal? Sounds right up my alley. I’ll be sure to pick up a bag tomorrow at Wegman’s. 😀
I think it would be nice to have a couple of those bags on hand when you don’t feel like cooking – looks good!
Oooo…. the Brunswick Stew looked wonderful. Think your mom might share the recipe?
I’ve never tried one of those meal in a bags before. This Tyson’s one looks really good actually! Must look for it in the store next trip.
Hey Jennifer! Thanks for stopping by my blog! I am loving your food photos and ideas. I don’t have any kids yet but I do have a full course load so I understand how a busy schedule can take away from cooking time! I look forward to reading more from you.
Mmm that brunswick stew looks DELICIOUSSSS! 🙂
That tyson thing looks very good…Is it high in sodium? I always want to try out those dinner in a bag things, but then I see that one serving at 70% of your sodium or whatever!
Errign, the sodium content is 470 mg, or 20% of your daily sodium, so not bad!
Your dad’s recipe of that chicken stew sounds so good!
