First of all, I need to give a shout out to my Mom!!! Happy Birthday Mom!!! I hope you have a wonderful day!! If everyone can wish my Mom a Happy Birthday, that would be great!
Last week I featured a new product called True North Nut Clusters. I had 19 people leave a comment, so I called my sister this morning and told her to pick a number between 1 and 19 and she picked 11.
And, number 11 happens to be STEPHANIE from The Skinny Plate!. Congrats Stephanie! I’ll contact you for your address!
Now, on to dinner. You may think making homemade pizza on a weeknight with kids and homework is too much work. But using my sister’s no-rise pizza dough, you can have a pizza in the oven in about 10 minutes!
For the dough:
2 cups flour
1 cup warm water
2 1/2 tsp. yeast
1/2 tsp. salt
Mix all these ingredients in a mixer. I have a Kitchen-Aid, so I beat it with the dough hook for about 3 minutes. It looks like this when you are done:
For 3 oz. of pizza dough, it is 150 calories. Have you ever tried to roll out pizza dough and it always comes back after you roll it out? It’s because the dough isn’t at room temperature. I used to buy pre-made dough at Trader Joe’s for .99 cents a bag and try to roll it out and I would get a tiny pizza that wasn’t thin. The great thing about this dough is it does NOT have to rise, just start rolling it out:
This was the pizza my son Mark, who is 11 made. He rolled out the dough and everything! Great job Mark!
I did use store bought pizza sauce, but feel free to make your own!
You can pre-bake the crust for about 4 minutes if you want a crispier crust. I bake mine on a cookie sheet coated with cooking spray.
Doesn’t that look fantastic? I’ve always joked that when my son Mark grows up, all he needs is his George Forman grill and Ramen noodles and he could take care of himself…but now he can add making homemade pizza to that list!
My battery died so I couldn’t take a picture of my pizza (I was hungry!). Mine had sauce, spinach, red onion, a little sausage and the cheese. MAGNIFICENT is all I can say!
***************
A couple of things to look forward to. I have another weight loss success story lined up that I will be posting in the next week or so. And another product review and give-a-way, so come back again to check it out!
Happy Birthday to your mom! π
The pizza looks fabulous!
Sounds very fabulous!
Thanks! I have been thinking of making my own pizza dough sometime…
Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your fabulous mom who gave birth to fabulous daughters! π
Aww happy birthday to your Mommy! π
Wow, very interesting on the pizza dough “bouncing” back!!! Thank you SO much for that info – I would have never guessed or thought to look it up! That’s such an easy fix, too! hehe Now I’ll never have to curse it again!
I love how involved your kids get w/ cooking! I think it’s 1 of the most important life skills to pass onto your kids. My mom always worked from home teaching piano, but obviously we couldn’t interrupt her. She was there if we needed her, but after school we were on our own for snacks and light meals. I’m so happy my brother and I learned how to operate cookware and figure out tastes at an early age. I shudder now when ppl I know (some even in their 30s) say “oh I can’t cook” and just eat out every meal! So expensive, unhealthy, and you lose all that enjoyment and pride from experimenting in the kitchen! Your kids will be self-prepared and also know how to budget a grocery list – really great skills!!!!
Thanks for that pizza dough recipe!!! I think your sister told me about it the other day (missed you by the way!) and i totally forgot the proportions!
Happy Birthday to your mom! The pizza looks absolutely fabulous! Great job by Mark!
Your pizza looks great. I like to use the TJ’s whole wheat pizza dough to make my pizzas. Homemade pizza the lazy way. lol. Happy be-lated birthday to your mom.
Happy birthday to your mom! I wish her all the best and have many many more….
Your pizza look so delicious, and pretty simple. I am not a pizza person, but this kind of pizza I can eat for sure.
Happy Birthday Jenn’s Mom! (I already wished a happy birthday to Biz’s mom, lol!)
You and Biz make that pizza dough look so easy – when my kids are home from college, I’ll have to make it for all of us (if I make it for just my husband and I, there will be leftovers, and cold pizza is like crack to me!).
