Healthier breaded pork chops
Another day, coming home, getting my work out clothes on and doing my elliptical for 30 minutes (with no interruptions either)! Wahoo! I knew I had pork chops, but wasnβt exactly sure how to prepare them. I thought I could do some kind of breading, but didnβt have any bread crumbs. After I was done working out, I looked in my pantry. Then it hit me. I have these Wheat bran flakes I bought at Fruitful Yield. I wonder if that would work?
This is what they look like. For 1/4 cup its only 32 calories .5 grams of fat and 4 grams of fiber. Suggestions on the packaging say you can mix it with hot or cold cereal, mix it in with recipes, (maybe cookies or muffins?) For the breading I used the wheat flakes, a little bit of flour and salt and pepper
I used this Asian seasoning I got from a recent Pampered Chef party I went to. Basically I took the 4 pork chops, and soaked them in skim milk (really to help the breading stick). Then I lifted each pork chop out of the milk, sprinkled the seasoning directly on the pork chop, then in the wheat bran coating. Before cooking, it looked like this:
I used a non stick skillet and melted about a tablespoon of Earth Balance margarine, and a little olive oil. Cook on each side for about 5 minutes. These were pretty thick.
Since the flavoring was Asian, I decided to make green beans with a touch of sesame oil. They turned out so good! And a baked potato on the side. Not a bad dinner when I wasnβt sure what to make!
