It’s almost 1 p.m. and I’m still in my jammies, so the day is starting off slow to say the least!
What are your plans for tonight? We just hang out at home. Our oldest is going to a friends house, so it will just be the younger two, some snacks and ringing in the New Year. Low key, but just the way I like it.
My oldest son is a freshman in High School and I think when I was a freshman in high school I still stayed in that year. I remember my junior year in high school driving around to some party one of my friends heard about, we got totally lost and were actually in the car at the stroke of midnight, I remember I was not too happy about that!
I also in my youth worked in restaurants, so there were a lot of New Years either waiting tables, or bartending. I also remember when I was 20, working at a totally disgusting clothing store called “Dimensions in Fashion”, think of it as even lower quality cheap clothes than Fashion Bug, and going out the night before with my sister Biz and our friend Rich to Medusa’s in Chicago, a juice bar that had loud music and dancing. I had to work ON New Years day at 5:00 a.m. because the store opened at 6:00 a.m. I think I got only an hour or so of sleep that night. Good times!
So, have fun, be safe and enjoy the last day of the YEAR!!!!

On a side note, check out the birds that were in a tree outside my office the other day. IN late December, IN Chicago!!! Who knew there were tropical birds that live here year round!
I thought they looked like parrots, but they are called Monk Parakeets. The tree they were on had red berries, and as I counted NINE in that one tree. They didn’t even mind people coming right under the tree, they didn’t fly off or anything. They stayed in the tree for about an hour or so. SO COOL! I’ve never seen birds like that in the winter in my whole life living in Chicago!
Our cul-de-sac has a party every single year that we go to. It’s family friendly so we bring out daughter and when she gets too irritable, we take her back home (next door) to bed. We set up a monitor and head back over to the party. If it were just me and my husband, we’d be in bed by 10 like usual!
Those birds are so cool! I’ve only seen parrots in their native habitat when I was in Costa Rica. What a special treat for you!
Happy New Year to you and your family!
Happy New Year to you and yours! Have a good one!
What gorgeous parakeets! Such a pretty picture!
My whole day has been a pajama day, ha. I’m all about low key as well.
Here’s to a wonderful, and blessed 2011! 🙂
Those birds are wild – I would have thought someone’s pets escaped! Very cool.
I love a pajama day – in fact, I’ve had two this week. We are staying in tonight – never was much of a NYE partier. Happy New Year, Jenn!
Holy cow, I’ve never seen any birds like that in the wild! Crazy! Today was so beautiful! I went to get the mail in pants and a short sleeve shirt. And later we had the windows open!!!
I hope to be in my jammies all day today!! 🙂
Happy New Year!
