My kids love Popsicles pretty much all year round, but especially during these hot summer days. I think its a much better alternative to ice cream and they love it more than that. When I was at Trader Joe’s last weekend, I stocked up on their frozen mangos, frozen blueberries, frozen pineapple chunks. Using this simple recipe, you can make home made Popsicles all year long (and I can eat them too!)
2 cups mixed fruit (I used the fruits mentioned above) pineapple, blueberries, mango.
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tsp. lemon juice (I used fresh)
Put all fruit in a blender and blend until smooth.
Add 1-2 tablespoons of water, if necessary.
Add sugar and lemon juice. Cover and blend until well mixed.
Pour into 4 oz. ice-pop molds or paper cups. Insert sticks. Freeze until solid.
Each cup is only 36 calories!
I don’t have a Popsicle molds, or sticks. I just put them in styrofoam cups and my kids dig it out with a spoon. It’s so good! Trader Joe’s frozen fruits are so inexpensive. Almost all of them are $2-$3 dollars a bag vs. $6 and up at a regular store.
Aldi is another great store to purchase frozen fruits, most of theirs are $2.00 -$2.50 for a bag.

On another note, I received a free coupon for one of my Lucky Readers to Try Buitoni’s New Frozen Meals for 2! (up to a ($9.99 value!) as part of FOOD BUZZ’s taste tester program!
So, if you leave a comment, you will be eligible for the coupon!
Two of the new flavors are Southern Italian Style Meat Lasagna and Shrimp & Lobster Ravioli!
Have you bought Buitoni pastas before??
The lasagna one sounds good! I THINK I might have bought them once but I don’t buy too many prepackaged meals anymore. Actually, if these are new, I don’t think I have tried them. They certainly look delicious from the picture!
I am going to try those homemade popsicles. I don’t have any molds anymore either so I’m with you and the styrofoam cups! My kids like that better anyways! Thanks!
I buy Buitoni pasta often but have never tried the frozen meals. In fact, I have a container of the Three Cheese Tortellini right now just waiting for me to add some diced grilled chicken and pesto. Make a fabulous, quick meal!
I’m going to pass that recipe on to my sister because I’m sure she’d like to give her kids a treat without financing the ice cream truck!
I just used my coupon to get the shrimp/lobster ravioli yesterday, but I’d love to try their lasagna!
oooh great coupon! I don’t think I have tried their pastas before!!
The pops are a great idea – i didn’t know they had gotten so expensive – wow!
I need to try those popsicles….I see another trip to TJ’s in my near future, so I’ll have to stock up on frozen fruit!!
