One of the things I am most proud of as a working Mom and wife with 3 kids, is that I never resort to fast food for meals. Plus, why do the drive through when you can make the same thing at home except not feel guilty about it?
I started making this for dinner, and then realized I forgot to buy buns! But, I had a ton of English muffins, so that worked great instead. For this burger I used ground sirloin. I started with 4 oz. of raw meat, which shrunk to about 3 oz. I topped it with a half ounce of pepper jack cheese, some raw spinach, raw red onion and sweet pickles! For the fries, just take however many potatoes you want and slice them thin. I drizzle about a tablespoon of canola oil on top. Sprinkle some paprika on top and bake them at 400 degrees for about 25 minutes. (Stir occassionally)
Then on the side, I just sauteed some pea pods to get more veggies in. Total on this meal is around 425 calories! Not bad!
That is an awesome creation!!!
My mom always put our homemade burgers on english muffins when we were little! So funny to see a pic of it at somebody elses house!
Delicous looking at-home burger and fries! : )
The burger and the fries look so tempting and delicious! When I was younger, my family always opted for fast food which is something I will definitely not do when I have children, so kudos to you! 🙂
I too like burgers and sandwiches on english muffins – there’s less “bread”.
Your blog is fantastic!! How have I not been reading it all this time? Can I add you to my blogroll? Thanks for the comment on my site… I LOVE PF Changs chicken wraps!!
Mara, of course you can add me to your blog roll, I will do the same ;0)
You’re a good mom. Burgers, fries and a veggie. Who would ask for more?
