Hello and welcome to my blog! (Updated Summer 2025)
I’ve been on a weight loss and wellness journey for most of my adult life — with all the ups, downs, and detours that come with it. I first joined Weight Watchers in the summer of 1999, when my daughter Emma was three and my son Mark was one. Every week I’d pack a blanket, toys, and snacks to keep them entertained while I enjoyed my local meeting. Nine months later, I had lost 70 pounds and reached my goal weight.
Life, of course, doesn’t stand still. When I became pregnant with my youngest daughter, Claire, in 2001, I relaxed the rules, enjoyed foods I’d avoided for a while, and the pounds crept back on. But here’s the thing — I’ve never given up. I’ve learned that this isn’t about perfection, it’s about persistence. As long as you’re still in the race, you’re moving in the right direction.
My goal isn’t to be “skinny.” My goal is to be strong, active, and healthy so that in my 60s, 70s, 80s and beyond, I can spend my time traveling, making memories, and living life — not sitting in waiting rooms or managing a dozen prescriptions.
These days, I focus on eating more fruits and vegetables, moving my body in ways I enjoy, and savoring the journey. I’ve also found an incredible online community over on Instagram @jenncooks, where I post almost daily — sharing my meals, recipes, workouts, and little snapshots of everyday life. That community was a lifeline during quarantine, and it’s been a joy to keep those connections alive.
Here on the blog, you’ll find a mix of new recipes, updated favorites, and a few gems from my very first blog, Slim Shoppin’.
Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the internet. If you have questions or just want to say hello, you can reach me at jennifervonebers@gmail.com. I’d love to hear from you!
